The Knotted Entity is a response to themes emerging from different dialogues across separate cultural and time landscapes.

It started in South Africa 2017 and continued in The Netherlands 2023.

The exhibition is a combination of video and installation work as a response and a way to showcase dialogues with the artist. The dialogues ranges from Emotional violence to boundaries with friends.

The Knotted Entity does not aim to showcase trauma in its entirety but only facets of pieces that people are willing to share, and in this sharing hoping that others might see glimpses of their own experiences and reflect thereon.

About the artist

Desire Rhea De Lacy is a South African born artist. She completed her Bachelor of fine arts in 2017 and has participated in various exhibitions such as the Sasol new signatures in South Afri-ca. She is currently developing her body of work abroad. Her work focuses on themes of trauma as a collective, individual, and personal experience. Drawing from her upbringing in Post-apartheid South Africa, De Lacy grapples with subtle emotional nuances that presents itself in her alien life abroad.
