In Reality Blinking, Ho Bin and Santiago Colombo Migliorero actively collaborate, intertwining their projects and exploring their points of connection. As part of this synergy, they create Chapter 8 of Reality Sandwich together, wandering through the city of Hengelo in search of blinking lights. This shared experience not only merges their artistic investigations but also generates new perspectives on perception, memory and reality.
Reality Sandwich is a multidisciplinary art project by Ho Bin that blends mini-documentary filmmaking, performance and visual art to explore the subjective nature of reality. It is Ho Bin’s way of discovering what Reality Sandwich is – without reading the book Reality Sandwich by Allen Ginsberg – through the perspectives of other artists. The series invites artists worldwide to interpret what a ‘Reality Sandwich’ means to them, capturing these diverse reflections through immersive, day-long encounters. Reality Sandwich has been screened and exhibited in New York, Shanghai, Gwangju and Seoul.
Blinks is a project by Santiago Colombo Migliorero, started in 2018, consisting of an archive of videos capturing blinking lights and lighting failures. The archive currently contains 750 videos recorded in 12 different countries. For this exhibition, Santiago presents a selection of videos from the archive, along with a blinking lights installation that ‘sings’ in Morse code.
Ho Bin and Santiago are both in a residency program at ARE (Artist Residencies Enschede). Tetem offers the international artists from ARE the opportunity to present their work and reach a diverse audience.
Reality Blinking will open on Wednesday 5 March from 15:00-16:30 with a guided tour by the artist. Everyone is welcome!
