Iulia Paraipan is a Romanian artist based in Enschede. Graduating from Aki
ArtEZ sculpture department in 2023, she discovered the pleasure of
working with textiles during her final year,. In the years following her
graduation she has expanded this practice, developing an approach
rooted in textiles; a medium she stretches, folds, and reimagines to its
limits.
Occupying a space between painting and sculpture, her work is defined by
a playful, intuitive approach to the material. Through colour and texture,
she invites viewers to see textiles not as something soft and familiar, but
as a medium of surprising richness and wonder.
Her works can still be seen until September 1st at Concordia, Langestraat. Part of the In Het Kader Van-cycle, presenting the works of artists affiliated with Kunstnonstop.
