Foundscape Orchestra

You are invited to experience Foundscape Orchestra in the Drukpershal, a former printing press building in Enschede, between October 30th and November 7th. The exhibition is open every day from 12:00 - 22:00.

Foundscape Orchestra is a sound art project by Daniel Maalman, in which buildings are played as if they were an instrument. This special edition takes place inside the Drukpershal; a former printing press building located in Enschede. The characteristics of this unique building will be transformed into sonic stories which involve the architecture, the sound of material structures, and the acoustic space.

Foundscape Orchestra is made up of unconventional instruments such as illuminated porcelain speaker objects, electromagnetic machines, pneumatic hammers, percussive tables, and a sonic chandelier.

The former newspaper printing press building has been empty for years, but after months of preparation, it will become a spectacular audiovisual experience. In order to present Foundscape Orchestra inside this massive building, sound artist Daniel Maalman collaborates with Stichting Pronksnor and a multidisciplinary team of artists, technicians and musicians.
