Like many others, Eva Meijer (visual artist, Enschede) and Alexandra Bloch Pfister (historian, Münster) see the need for a switch of the ways of energy production and energy consumption. However, the increasing number of wind turbines and solar parks have a major impact on the landscape. It changes the landscape considerably. Eva Meijer and Alexandra Bloch Pfister decided together, each with their own disciplines and questions as a basis, to start a research with the title "Energy Culture-Energy Culture".
The focus of this research is on the three "energy landscapes" of Ibbenbüren, Enschede and Saerbeck, which are all exemplary of the transition from fossil to sustainable energy. Eva Meijer and Alexandra Bloch Pfister each examine their own perception of the relationship between landscape, energy and people, as well as the perceptions of the residents and employees on and around these three "energy landscapes".
The exhibition will feature frottages, prints, photos and texts, with which Eva Meijer and Alexandra Bloch Pfister, through their unusual approach to the energy issue, hope to shed a different light on how we deal with and experience energy.
The EnergieCultuur-EnergieKultur project is being carried out within the framework of taNDem, a cross-border art and culture project of the EUREGIO, and is supported by INTERREG (www.deutschland-nederland.eu).
The opening in presence of Eva Meijer and Alexandra Bloch Pfister will take place Thursday 26 March at 16.30.
