Carte Blanche - Guusje Slagter en Desire de Lacy

In oktober is er een duo expositie te zijn bij B93 van Guusje Slagter en Desire De Lacy. Guusje Slagter toont haar werk in ‘Foef in bloei’ en Desire De Lacy met ‘Fragments unknown’.

De expositie is te bezoeken op afspraak tot 25 oktober.

Foef in bloei - Guusje Slagter 

Met kleurrijke stoffen, fournituren en andere textiele werkvormen creëert Guusje Slagter een wereld waarin de grenzen tussen plant, bloem, lichaam en landschap vervagen. Haar werk begint bij tekeningen en groeit uit tot ruimtelijke installaties, waarin losse vormen als puzzelstukken worden samengebracht. Zachte, organische vormen groeien over muren, vloeren en plafonds en vormen een contrast met de harde, in hokjes geplaatste wereld om ons heen.

Foef in bloei is haar meest ruimtelijke installatie tot nu toe. Het werk werd oorspronkelijk gemaakt voor BIG ART 2026 in de voormalige Codrico-fabriek in Rotterdam en ontstond specifiek voor die plek. Tussen leidingen, buizen en industriële constructies groeiden de zachte, kleurrijke vormen de ruimte in. Voor Carte Blanche bij B93 krijgt Foef in bloei opnieuw een plek om verder te groeien, ditmaal in een andere omgeving en context.

Fragments unknown - Desire De Lacy

Desire De Lacy's artistic practice captures little nuances of lived experiences by using sound, video, photography and textiles to create immersive installational environments. 

Fragments unknown  functions as an immersive archival collage of sounds, photographs and videos projected onto found textiles. The digital content that I collected consists of things that became sentimental to me, from voice notes and videos sent between family members, to photos and videos from places that I have lived and been to.

All of the archival content is my own and collected after my initial migration from South Africa at the end of 2019. 

The act of archiving it was a way for me to hold onto sentimentality as a non-physical entity, especially when moving between different worlds. Within this act of migration and the creation of this installation there is a constant negotiation between the known and unknown, spaces and places as well as the intentional and unintentional ways of remembering and forgetting.
