Belly of the Beast

Sickhouse is happy to invite you to the opening of “Belly of the Beast”, the new solo exhibition of Josefin Arnell. The show presents a selection of video works, brought together around the idea of ​​building the "good citizen". 

The exhibition operates as dream logic and nightmare structures, populated by the characteristic figures of the artist. The beast is not shaped by fantasy alone, but by institutional power, social conditioning, and the violence of normalization and inside her we feast.

Belly of the Beast is a chapter of Sickhouse’s year program “Dream No Return”. Tired of “optimizing rest” and worried about the growing self censorship of our fantasy, Sickhouse is researching how playfulness can create space for the dreams we could have.

For the opening, we invite you to join a special DIY hobby horse-making workshop, starting at 14:00, followed by a barrier parcours competition from 15:30 onwards.
There will be a rosette for the winner, cake for the birthday girl and eggs for everyone interested. We look forward to seeing you at Sickhouse.
